Shear Resistant Slabs

With or without reinforcements

In the case of heavy vertical loads, slabs may need a shear resistance so high that also a specific shear-resistant reinforcement will be needed.

But not all types of floor slabs are suitable for this purpose. Some may have incorporated shear resistance, some can be equipped, but with high laying times and costs, and others can never overcome the non-reinforced section.

In StercheleGroup® PREM system, both ways can be followed depending on the needs.

PLUS

  • The use of slabs with incorporated shear reinforcement, where possible, simplifies works on site (i.e. Pre-shaped slabs with PREM lattice girder).
  • The use of floor plate slabs with integrative shear reinforcement reduces the costs (i.e. floor plate slabs with standard lattice girder).

RESTRICTIONS

  • When the choice of the structural component is due to other reasons than the shear resistance.
